53 audiovisual markets supported by Creative Europe
In the latest round of funding through the Access to Markets scheme, Creative Europe has awarded grants totaling €7.5 million to 53 industry events and activities across Europe which are designed to facilitate audiovisual professionals’ access to markets and to promote European audiovisual works.
It has been a particularly strong year for documentary initiatives which make up 25% of the selected projects. New projects include a collaboration between IDFA and Europa Distribution, as well as the development of new online tools by EDN. Only one VR-specific event was selected this year. However, 24 other projects include VR elements, reflecting how integrated it has become across the industry.
One UK project has been selected in this round of funding. MeetMarket and Alternate Realities Market at Sheffield Doc/Fest received €155,000 for the 2018 edition of their documentary and factual markets.
The Access to Markets funding aims to bring about European and international co-productions by creating an environment where buyers and content owners can meet, network and negotiate deals. The full set of results can be found on the EACEA website.
