2019 Europa Cinemas Innovation Prize open for applications

The second edition of the Europa Cinemas Innovation Prize is now open. The prize, initiated with the support of Creative Europe’s MEDIA sub-programme, is designed to recognise outstanding innovative actions implemented by one or several member cinemas which have the potential to embolden other exhibitors.

The €10,000 prize will be awarded by a representative of the European Commission at the upcoming Europa Cinemas Exhibitors Meeting on 19 May 2019 during the Cannes Film Festival.

The inaugural prize was awarded to Olle Agebro of Fyrisbiografen, a two-screen cinema in Uppsala, Sweden, during the European Film Forum at the 2018 Venice Film Festival.

The Europa Cinemas network currently consists of 1121 cinemas across 677 cities in 44 countries with the objective of promoting the diversity and wider circulation of European films, and advocating innovation.

The deadline for this year's submissions is 8 February 2019.
