What does this funding support?

Training activities that are aimed at developing the capacity of audiovisual professionals to understand and integrate a European and international dimension in their work by improving expertise in the following fields:

  • Audience development, marketing, promotion, new modes of distribution and exploitation including those relying on the latest digital technologies and ways to reach young audiences
  • Financial and commercial management with a view increase capacity to access finance, financial instruments and new business models
  • Development and production of audiovisual works including innovation in conent development (new storytelling, new formats), knowledge sharing and networking capabilities
  • Integration of the opportunities offered by digital technologies to ensure adaptation to latest market developments.

Activities may take the form of workshop and/or on-line coaching sessions and dissemination tools by using proven or testing innovative learning, teaching and coaching methods using the latest digital technologies.

Who is this funding for?

Training providers that aim to deliver continuous vocational training for film and television industry professionals.

Applicants should be legal entities, established and active in one or more of the countries participating in the MEDIA sub-programme and that are majority owned by nationals from those countries.

Who should the training activities be intended for?

Activities should targeted towards professionals from the audiovisual industry, in particular:

Producers, directors, writers, script-editors, commissioning editors, distributors, exhibitors, sales agents, new media content providers, professionals from the animation industry, professionals from the post-production field.

Professionals from legal, banking or financial sectors working with the audiovisual industry are also eligible target groups.

The majority of participants should be from a nationality other than that of the applicant.

Training activities can be open to participants from countries which are not participating in the MEDIA sub-programme. However, these participants should not represent more than:

  • 20% of the participants for European actions
  • 35-50% of the participants for international actions

Scholarships should represent at least 15% of the total number of participants and cover at least the participation fees. They must be distributed to participants coming from low production capacity countries.

How much can you apply for?

The annual budget for this scheme in 2018 was €7.5 million. The EACEA funded 49 projects.

The grant is limited to a maximum co-financing rate of 60% of the total eligible costs for European actions and 80% of total eligible costs for International actions.

Applications from across Europe are assessed centrally by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), with assistance from industry experts working in a relevant field.
