What does this funding support?

Please note that there are currently no UK banks that participate in the Guarantee Facility.

The Guarantee Facility aims to benefit small and medium-sized enterprises active in the cultural and creative sectors.

€121 million has been earmarked to guarantee financial intermediaries (e.g. banks) that are offering financing to cultural and creative sector initiatives.

The programme is expected to create €600 million in loans and other financial products through a catalyst effect.

The guarantee is managed by the European Investment Fund on behalf of the European Commission. It aims to strengthen cultural and creative sectors companies' financial capacity and competitiveness.

How do you apply?

To apply, cultural and creative companies must contact the financial intermediaries selected for each country.

Who is eligible to apply?

Small and medium-sized enterprises active in the cultural and creative sectors in the EU, Iceland and Norway.

Activities include the creation, production, dissemination and preservation of goods and services which embody cultural, artistic or creative expressions.

Sectors include architecture, archives and libraries, artistic crafts, audiovisual (including film, television, video games and multimedia), cultural heritage, design, festivals, music, performing arts, publishing, radio and visual arts.

Where is the Guarantee Facility operating?

The facility began rolling out in 2016 and financial intermediaries (banks) are operating under it gradually.

So far 11 agreements have been concluded in seven different countries.

Poland

Spain

Romania

Luxembourg, Denmark and Portugal have applications under consideration.
