Adults have always defined young people. X Generation, Y Generation… from the experience given by the age, the elderly are allowed to describe them, offering them an idea of themselves that not always fit with reality. It is an influence, though, since young people see themselves reflected in this external idea. Young people, committed and enthusiastic, who feel in the art world their way to act in the world they are living, meet with teachers, gurus, directors, and main figures with their methods, practices, processes and inertia (all of them good, all of them valid, all of them not young).
In <25, the main idea is to create a group of people under 25 from various countries to ask them to create a piece. This piece would be elaborated in various residencies in Spain, Portugal and United Kingdom. Residencies allow protecting the process from external influences. It is a way of living as well. It is a social and an artistic issue. Coexistence produces new materials that should be put into play. The performers could be students or graduated students and the directors would be young as well, although the figure of mature Observer is also present. This mature Observer is meant to detect and make them notice where and when are they using old forms instead of inventing new and original ones. In this piece, tools should be new ones, particular form the young people. Techniques such as video zapping, acoustic sensors and so on should be present if they decide it. The resulting piece will tour through three countries in its starting stage. Parallel activities such immersion in the residence places and contact with the locals are a main point as well.
Objectives: To facilitate the emergence of new voices, new discourses and unique productions through a route of residences, promote the cultural, linguistic and cultural exchange between participating countries, highlighting the connections that can be created with a new, young audience.
