The European Documentary Network (EDN) is a global network for professionals working with documentary film and TV with close to 1,000 members ranging from newcomers to established filmmakers from around the world.

During 2017 and 2018 EDN is engaging with the documentary community across Europe on Media and Society – European Documentary in a Changing Media Landscape, an initiative that aims to take stock of the challenges facing the European independent documentary sector.

In addition to gathering responses via an online survey, the team are travelling to various cities to bring together different stakeholders of the documentary community and analyse the current situation in order to reflect on the future. The next UK event takes place in London and follows on from a previous session held at the Glasgow Film Festival.

Participants will meet in small groups to discuss specific issues, related to documentary filmmaking on a regional, national and European level. The intention is not to provide any final conclusions but to produce a comprehensive overview of issues which can feed into any future recommendations.

This is a unique opportunity to make yourself heard and to make sure that the interests of the region in which you make documentaries are taken into account in higher political-level decision-making, decisions that will have an influence on the way you can do your work in the future.

If you’d like to take part in the roundtables please register your interest through our online form. We will be looking to create a mix of both experienced practitioners and newer talents in order to ensure a variety of voices are heard.

The deadline to register your interest is 27 April 2018.
