Creative Europe Desk UK returns to Edinburgh International Film Festival for the European Funding Stories Panel to discuss the ins and outs of international working.

International coproduction and financing is an increasingly prevalent way of funding a film, but one not without its challenges. In this panel we’ll hear from producers that have successfully collaborated across borders discussing how they tackled coproduction, identified partners, as well as the challenges they faced and how international coproduction improved the financial potential of their project, their prospective audience and the quality of their film.

The panel will be followed by networking drinks.

Speakers include:

Sol Papadopoulos: Creative Director, Hurricane Films

A six-time Royal Television Award winner and twice BAFTA nominated, Sol is an acclaimed director and producer at Hurricane Films. Together with Roy Boulter, Sol has produced three Terence Davies films, Sunset Song, A Quiet Passion, and Of Time and The City. Sol served as director on the upcoming Emily Dickinson feature documentary My Letter To The World, and produced the soon to be released true-life actioner; A Prayer Before Dawn, which premiered in official selection at Cannes 2017.

Ken Anderson: Executive Producer & CEO, Red Kite

A multi-award winning producer with over 20 years of experience in the animation industry; Ken Anderson co-founded Red Kite in Edinburgh, in 1997, and has since led the company to become one of the foremost Children’s and Animation Production companies in the UK. He is responsible for hit series such as: 64 Zoo Lane, Ask Lara, Wendy, The Imp and Pablo the Little Red Fox. His next pre-school series Bradley and Bee was showcased in Barcelona at the CARTOON 360; an Ask Lara drama series is in-development, as is a new comedy series for Disney EMEA.
