The Bigger Picture: Partnerships in Europe
Fringe Central, Venue 2, Appleton Tower, Corner of Windmill and Chapel Streets, EH8 9LE
Creative Europe Desk UK will once again be running events during the Edinburgh Festivals in August.
As part of the Fringe Central Events Programme, designed specifically for participants in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Creative Europe Desk UK hosts a panel of Creative Europe supported projects that offer opportunities in music, theatre and dance for artists and other professionals across Europe.
How do I develop relationships with professionals in other European countries? What opportunities are there to collaborate across borders with other creators? Are there still opportunities following the UK’s decision to leave the EU?
Join us to hear from three Creative Europe-supported projects in music, theatre and dance that connect artists and other professionals across Europe. Find out how these partnerships focus on breaking down creative, geographic and professional barriers, and address issues that resonate across Europe – and beyond.
Speakers include:
- Vanessa Reed, PRS for Music Foundation, lead partner of Cooperation Project Keychange, with partners in Estonia, Germany, Iceland, Spain, Sweden, Canada and UK. 'Keychange' aims to create new international opportunities in the music industry for performance, collaboration and learning amongst female artists and innovators who are ready to break into new markets.
- Natasja van ’t Westende, Dancing on the Edge, Dutch partner of Cooperation Project Performance(s) between two shores, a project between 5 partners in the UK, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany and Egypt, working with recently arrived Arab artists based in Europe, and aims to support artistic professional development in Europe through creation and touring support.
- Una Nic Eoin, Prime Cut Productions, partner of Cooperation Project EU Collective Plays!, working across Italy, Malta, Spain, Montenegro, Norway, Belgium and Northern Ireland and aims to promote the creation of plays that are the result of a collaboration of playwrights of different nationalities. Una will be speaking about being a member of IETM, a European Network for performing arts professionals from across the world.
- Anna Arthur, Aerowaves - a European Platform that selects new work by emerging European dance artists and then promote it through cross-border performances. Aerowaves' network of partners in 33 countries enables these younger choreographers to bring brand new dance to brand new audiences in Europe.
Attendees are invited to stay on for chat over a tea or coffee in the Workshop Room nearby after the event.
