‘No Deal is Better than a Bad Deal’ – Lifting the Lid on Distribution and Sales
BFI Southbank, Belvedere Road, SE1 8XT
Are you are a distributor/sales agent looking to brush up on your knowledge of some of the support initiatives and networks available to you? Or keen to get a better sense of your competition on the continent? Or maybe you are a producer keen to know it all works from the other side?
In the second session of our 'Staying Together with Creative Europe' series, we will explore the mechanics at work behind an international film deal. Our guest speakers will share insights on the business of circulating films in Europe and beyond, and discuss how the subsidies available through Creative Europe impact the decisions of distributors and sales agents when acquiring European films.
Confirmed speakers include:
- Susanne Davis, Head of Film Sales Support, European Film Promotion
- Christine Eloy, General Manager, Europa Distribution
- Daphné Kapfer, Managing Director, Europa International
- Moderator: Ben Luxford, Head of UK Audiences, British Film Institute
The session will run from 5 - 7 pm and will be followed by a chance to network with speakers and fellow attendees until 9pm.
Staying Together with Creative Europe
A season of events held throughout 2018 organised by Creative Europe Desk UK and framed within the context of the ongoing negotiations for the UK exiting the EU.
Through six sessions dedicated to specific topics, we will showcase some of the initiatives and support mechanisms funded through Creative Europe’s MEDIA sub-programme, while asking leading voices from the European audiovisual industry to explore what the phrase “We are leaving the European Union, but we are not leaving Europe” might mean for UK audiovisual professionals looking to internationalise their careers and expand their networks
